How people change.
It’s funny how fickle emotions are,
And how true beauty can linger
In the most unexpected places.
Sometimes I wonder
About how things look overall.
I mean, day by day,
So much changes,
So many things consume our thoughts,
Our efforts.
But if you look back,
Over a week,
Or a month.
It all looks so different.
Not really simpler,
But no more complex.
You see all those little efforts,
And how many of them never really add up to anything.
They meant the world at the time,
But in the end,
Maybe the only purpose they serve,
Is helping us to see just who we really are.
Humans focus so much
On who they’re going to be,
On what they’re going to do.
Maybe it would do us all a little good,
Help aim us in the right direction,
If we just took the time
To see who we already are.
