I cannot help but notice how fickle its course.
There are stretches of peace and joy
And also those of pain and suffering.
No one can deny the confusion or chaos.
No one could ignore the excitement and delight.
Each corner presents something so new,
Yet, there are times when the path seems so unchanging.
Patience only lasts so long, then frustration sets in.
Anger fades into a mere dull ache over time.
Happiness floats about in various amounts.
Inside, loneliness never leaves the back of your heart.
When you’ve found a means to fill the emptiness,
It’s truly a blindfold you’ve slipped on temporarily.
Upon regaining your sight and noting your position,
The everlasting tiny hollow space resurfaces.
Confidence can disguise the hole we all have.
Support from others can help it to lose size or feeling.
This path is so long and only you can travel it.
Yet, if you blink you will miss so many miles.
Every time you’re sure you know where you are and where you’re headed,
You turn an unsuspected corner and find yourself lost once again.
There are forks in the path and how you approach each one is different.
Some you stroll right through,
Either sure of your direction or blindly guessing.
Others you reach in a state of minor panic;
Often you peer around to see which choice others have made.
On occasion you simply sit down in the middle of the path and think.
You can think for eternity, but you’ll never be positive of your conclusion.
All you can do is try to convince yourself you are.
The path can be relaxing and easy to travel,
As if it’s designed just for your feet.
It can also be rough and strenuous,
Threatening your life with demands unachievable.
Hope can be so abundant that we seem to soar
Or so scarce that we crawl on our knees.
Either way, we each must travel our path with the utmost dedication.
Every path of a different nature,
Each traveler unique,
We are all somehow connected, deep beneath the surface.
We desire guidance, whether we appear to or not.
And, if we were all to seek, we would find it in the same Source.
The Light, The Savior, Jesus Christ.
