Here is the condensed version of my impressions of the following movies:
Jesus Film- Have to admit, I never watched the entire thing. It was too old (produced in 1979) and outdated to keep my attention, honestly.
The Passion of the Christ- Definitely more of a dramatic packed presentation, I felt the narrow focus of the gory details of the crucifixion lost impact due not presenting enough of Christ's life and teachings in the beginning of the movie to set a good foundation. That said, it drew in "unbelievers" and presented them with the message of the Gospel- and that isn't to be underestimated.
Jesus, He Lived Among Us- We own it and have watched it in loops. It keeps all of our interest and is child appropriate with parental pre-screening (particularly the portion where Judas commits suicide- it is shown very briefly and with no gross detail, but as a parent you need to determine when/how to reveal such matters to your children. Our 5 year old asked and we explained simply, our 3 year old didn't even notice). Very Biblically sound. <-Almost forgot to add that, silly me!
I am excited and hope that I'll be able to add the "Son of God" to the list of movies I can/have reviewed about the life of Jesus Christ. Click here or on the picture above to see the trailer / preview.
If/when I do view the movie in full, you can be sure to expect a thorough review to be posted, keeping sound doctrine, Biblical accuracy, family-friendlyness and other factors in mind as always. Since it comes out on February 28, it would be a bit late for a Valentine's date, but I think it may be worth postponing the celebration. Then we could buy boxes of chocolate at half off too!!! Mmm, sounds like a great idea to have Valentine's Day 'late' in 2014 to me!
