Family-Sized Mudslide (serves 4-5)
In a blender, put:
2 avocados (I like them when they yeild to light pressure near the stem, but aren't mushy)
2 frozen bananas, medium or large
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (like to use 1/4 c. dark and 1/4 regular, but all regular is good too)
2 Tbsp. imitation vanilla (or 1 Tbsp. pure vanilla if that's what you're used to using)
2 Tbsp. maple syrup, more to taste
2 cups Silk Cashew milk (substituting other milks will create a less creamy dessert, do at your own risk)
Blend well, taste and add additional maple syrup if desired. This depends partly on how large and overripe your bananas are, and partly on your personal sweet tooth.
Serve immediately with a spoon or a smoothie straw.
If you substitute any ingredients, the texture and flavor will likely be very different from the amazingness I've shared here. I've been making variations of this recipe for 3 years and just nw nailed it to the point that I feel I can't improve it any more. I tossed out the post it note I've been keeping in my cookbook and wrote it on its very own index card. It's official.
