So many little things happen in a day.
Someone says hello,
Picks up a pen for you,
Sends you a card.
Little things,
Just little things.
Perhaps you did some little things today.
Perhaps you gave someone change for a pay phone,
Waited for someone to cross the street,
Or got someone papers they needed even though you had a meeting to attend.
Little things,
Just little things.
I slit my wrist,
And wore a long sleeve shirt.
Eleven strangers smiled at me today,
A normally rude acquaintance thanked me for helping them with a math problem,
And a friend gave me a hug for no reason.
Little things,
Just little things.
To them.
Little,
To them.
For the first time in years,
I cried myself to sleep in joy tonight.
