She’s looking at the world
With eyes wide open,
Looking at the world with hope in her heart.
So why must tears flow
From eyes so filled with love?
Why must tears flow
From a young child’s eyes?
She was thrown out in the world,
Tossed out with no love.
Stuck in a place
With no arms open,
No arms for hugs.
Why must she shiver,
Shutter in the corner alone?
Why must she be curled up,
Hiding from the cold?
The world so big
Wasn’t as big as her heart.
She wore it on her sleeve,
Why must it be torn?
Her ears were ruined
By cursing and hatred,
Now they’ll forever hear
Words to pull her down.
Her mind, once innocent,
Filled only with love and wonder,
Now sours and leads her
To places she doesn’t belong.
Why was she exposed
To the world at its cruelest?
Why couldn’t she
Be sheltered with a parent’s love?
Now she’s grown,
Deaf to all compliments,
Mind and life a wreck.
Down the wrong path?
Who knows?
Her heart, it seeks,
It’ll forever seek the nonexistent.
She’s looking at the world
With eyes wide open,
Looking at the world with hope in her heart.
She wears her heart on her sleeve,
Why must it be torn?
Age 15
With eyes wide open,
Looking at the world with hope in her heart.
