Talking alone
Crying alone
Trying alone.
How can an empty heart
Feel so heavy?
How can being apart
Bring two people together?
Pain hollows us out
From the inside
To the flesh of our skin
As hot, salty tears
Roll down an expressionless face.
A nose sore from sniffling,
And a chest tired from inhaling,
A dark room can feel so comforting,
Like a blanket of void space,
Giving you a break from the drama
From the emotions
The confusion.
Pain is a familiar foe;
The battles are long and restless
For I know
They will come again.
