Tell me, where are my wings?
An angel is strong, wise and filled with faith;
I am none of these things.
Though I long for your happiness
I bring with me a sorrow so deep
Angels cry tears of joy;
Much darker things make me weep.
Try as I might to be supportive
And be there when you are in need
It seems all too often I crumble,
Leaving you to take the lead.
Peace and warmth
Are felt when an angel is near,
But my presence tends to leave you
Full of doubt, confusion and fear.
Angels act selflessly
Spreading only hope;
Most of my energy
Is devoted to finding ways to cope.
So I am not your angel,
And I could never be;
If you feel you are still in love
I hope it is with me.
