And I set them down with a sigh.
I don't believe our parting would've been easier
If we would have said goodbye.
You were carefree where I used caution;
Your green thumb was filled with grace toward my black.
Yellow and drying leaves,
When your gift withers, I cannot call you back.
Creativity came with ease to those strong hands.
Your laugh was easy and light.
Loving your boys so deeply,
What drew you into the night?
Always seeking, yet never finding
A place to settle long.
Many faiths and friendships built,
So few on a foundation strong.
Like the plants you loved and tended,
You could bloom and thrive in season.
You didn't make it through this drought
And I can't know the reason.
Are you basking in the love of our Savior?
Are you cooking, painting, gardening, and making jewelry while we're apart?
Is this separation from your loved ones temporary
Or have you forever left behind a breathtaking garden of bleeding hearts?
