So soft and gentle.
I turned around
And there you stood.
I look at you
And you peer into my eyes.
You seem unaware
Of the sound so sweet.
For a moment,
All of the worries,
The doubts and the fears,
All of the pain and confusion
Are gone as I take in
The silence lingering in the air about us.
I turn and leave,
Back to the world,
To the world from which you are not.
My horrors return
And wear at my soul.
I press on,
But my strength fades
And I begin to weep.
I open my eyes
And am surrounded by light,
So white and pure.
I turned around
And there you stood.
I search your face,
For evidence that you’d witnessed it too
And you peer into my eyes.
Time freezes,
As peace floats through the air
And I am overcome
With feelings of ease.
I shake my head,
Doubting my mind.
I stumble back,
To the world of mine,
The world I try to change.
To change or escape,
But the shadows come
And overpower me.
Down I fall,
I fall to the bottom.
I feel a hand
Lift me gently up,
But it is dark
And I do not see whose.
I turn around
To look for any shape or silhouette
And light pours in.
I hear a flutter
And turn to where you’d been,
But you’ve gone home.
Home to your world,
Where silence and peace
Overcome worries, doubts, fears,
Pain,
And confusion.
