But it aches so deep.
So deep with love,
With sorrow,
Hope and despair.
Do I laugh or cry?
Pray
Or die?
Oh, heavenly earth.
Humanly earth,
I can’t help but laugh
Perhaps in despair,
Mostly in confusion
At your ways.
You whisper stories
Of miracles and love
On every flowing breeze.
Yet when the storm comes,
Its tales will drop any strong soul
To their knees in unbearable pain.
It wouldn’t surprise me
If you were the Devil-
Once God’s highest angel,
Now His largest burden.
Sometimes I wonder
Why the hell Christ bothered,
When it turned out this way anyhow,
When people are so sinful, so foolish, so ungrateful,
So unlike God?
Other times I cry out in joy
Because I see Your love,
Your work;
Your so distant-seeming light
At the end of our tunnel.
So I say this prayer
In loving hate
For our pitiful world
You claimed as Your glorious one.
Whether it’s Your
Only mistake
Or best decision,
Only You know.
But I lift it up
Because You love it,
Because You are so perfect,
So great beyond grasp
That You can love this great
Maze of evil and good;
Unimaginable pain and
Overjoyed love.
This potential for perfection
Or complete disaster.
This heavenly earth,
This humanly earth
I laugh at in confusion.
